Anyone have a understanding of the ART GRANT process

Because I'm confused. What is the highest amount of money they give out?

They told me they loved my project but they didn't have enough to cover the cost of the materials. I asked for a good amount. But they have 500,000 dont they?

If anyone has the skinny on how they come to their decisions I would love to know

also maybe some feedback or insight from the community will let me know if my piece isn't as amazing as I think

I am only speaking for myself here.Not any part of grant process.Below is the arrival time schedule you proposed in your grant submission.Could be they did not want you hanging around for a month before the party started.

All credit to the idea and inspiration but there were enough spelling and grammatical errors on the application as well as the July arrival dates to give the possible impression to the judges that "if you can't do the application properly...............".

I know Ein Hammer Project had a pro do the grant application.Might want to look into that if you try again.

Do final test and observe interactions.. Anticipate any problems then enjoy the burn.

I'm pretty sure that the grants are given out as a help, not as the totality of money needed. (Even if they gave you enough for all of it, it would end up costing more than you anticipated, I think.) This allows them to support more interesting projects, and also ensures the artist(s) is motivated enough to do it. Typically, anyone posting about an art project they are working on will have a post that leads to the project's webpage, and there will be a link for the money.

Omar, what are you doing during august? Guarding the project against the DPW?

This is pretty small for the amount you aked for, with a huge possibility of falure from broken components if it gets climbed on, and believe me, it will get climbed on .

And it doesn't even shoot flames ?

Also, you listed 10 grand to pay for labor to get the thing built ?
Most approved art gets built by the artist and volunteers/friends.

I think it is a great idea, and it looks funny as hell, but maybe consider using dolls from goodwill instead of making ones that cost so much ?

IMHO, you asked for too much money (and put up too little money). Like OED said.

Neat idea, hope you can still manage to bring at least some smaller version of it anyways (start a fund raising website and pump it)

thanks for the feed back...Yeah the major issue I believe with the project is people destroying it..

and I have to build the figures because there all going to have pressure sensors in them, to activate different sound files ..

I do get that impression if it doesn't shoot fire they don't want to give a lot of money to it..
