Both Root & Opulent both are both awe-inspiring, but the one that consistently made me giddy was Robot Heart simply because it could move around and stop somewhere..bam! instant party! Seeing them cruise around the deep playa with that uberbright jumbotron and hearing their beats crystal clear from a couple miles off gave me shivers!

According to the opulent temple people, they will not be able to come back this year...unless they happen to raise enough money. A LOT depends on the party they are throwing next week, i think march 8th in San Fran.

<b><i>Event Transportation Plan:</i></b>
The transportation plan for the event is quite comprehensive and consists of a mixture of provided shuttle transportation, use of public transit and taxi services, and available parking at the event location. Details below.

<i>FREE Provided Shuttle Transportation:</i>
Opulent Temple has contracted with First Student and Das Frachtut LLC to provide shuttle buses from Oakland and San Francisco, respectively to Treasure Island between the hours of 9:30 pm and 4:30 am. These buses will run in 40 minute intervals, and are each capable of carrying up to 40 people.

Public Transit/Taxi Services:
The location is conveniently located adjacent to the 108 MUNI bus line, which runs every 45 minutes, 24 hours per day, and goes directly to the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco. In addition to this, we are designating the shuttle service pickup locations as taxi cab pickup stops, and have alerted local taxi cab companies of this plan.

Available Event Parking:
The Treasure Island event facility has ample parking capacity for over 500 vehicles. This area will be supervised by an organized team of event volunteers and security staff throughout the evening. As well, we are actively encouraging our event attendants to carpool to the event. Spots are first come first parked, early arrival recommended if you need to drive. Please don't drive alone!

DIRECTIONS: Either direction from the bridge onto Treasure Island - head to the north side of the Island (the "Treasure" not "Yerba Buena" Island) - There's one road of entry that winds around and lands down at a previously manned security gate with stop sign. Head through the gate and take the first right hand turn onto California Ave. Take the first right again, you'll see the parking lot entrance on your immediate left. Enter and follow parking helper prompts.

I heard the same rumors about Paul Oakenfold getting paid to perform when I was there at the '05 burn. Oakenfold even got driven to our little camp ("The Bush" located right next to Root ) in a golf cart and listened to me mix for about 10 minutes before taking off... I personally believe him and other "big name" artists at least have their tickets, and other accommodations taken care of while they are in BRC (while else would they be locked into one camp/specific events and appear to be so pampered?). If theme camps want/feel they need to pay some big artist to come perform at Burning Man, that's on them. I personally would rather have DJ/artists perform because they want to, not for the money. Our doors are always open to amateurs and professionals alike, just don't expect to get paid with money, that doesn't exist here.

2005 was my first year at Root Society, and Oakenfeld did Visit, because he is a friend of the camp founder, and fellow Dj, Jefr Tale.

he did not play a set though, i do believe he played at Cirque, and at Op Temp.

He did play at OP, and I never said that root society paid him anything, or anyone for that matter (I mentioned that my camp was next to root). All I said was I heard that rumor in 05, and it did look like he was being chauffeured around, and if it's true I basically could care less!

For the record, I believe Oakenfold is still in Guinness as the most successful DJ ever, I'm sure he could play a lot of events for free and not have to worry about money, but I *know* there are DJs that have gotten paid to perform in BRC.

i believe Opulent temple is coming back, hence the fundraisers.

We had some interesting, not really burner, type of experience with the Green Gorilla lounge. Business and all seemed to be more important then the community. But that was just my experience.
