30ft Monolith

Hi I'm thinking of creating a 30ft monolith for my camp, but I don't want to use guy wires. Any suggestions on what I can do to secure it? I have no background in structual engineering and do not know anyone who is experienced in this sort of thing. My main concern is the wind. It is to have a 4 sided frame of angle iron and have plywood panels covering the exterior. Any suggestions from experienced or knowledgeable people would be extremely helpful

one would guess you mean 30' tall?
if so, then, make it 45' wide both ways.....it should be fine..........

45 feet wide both ways? what do you mean by that? I was hoping to make the base some where between 6 and 10 feet wide

Your monolith should have dimensional ratios of 1 x 4 x 9.

I recommend 3 x 12 x 27 feet if you want something close to 30' high.

Drive truck axles into the playa at angle and weld to that.

BTW, you really need allot of craft, skill and a structural engineer before you try something of this magnitude. Big stuff like that can kill people when it falls.

Build it as a hollow frame, 60 feet high. Sink it 30 feet into the playa. Cover with a very porous and lightweight black fabric.

Or better yet, hire a structural engineer.

Or even better, just don't. Refer to previous post about killing someone.
