well quit frankly the truth is?
Burning man volunteers make half as much as they did five years ago despite the increasing economy, and the huge monetary value that the event has accumulated through ticket sales....

oh yeah they pay sooo much to the government...

bullshit....

harry larvey, or i mean larry harvey and his mini onions, or i mean minions are becoming rich and a huge percentage of the burning art grants are givin solely to people like the temple builders....

because the rest of us suck at art, I guess.

I didn't know volunteering was a career choice. Really can't be much money in that...but who am I to say what people should do for a living.

Is this the same Opera that back in98 and 99 that started so late that just about everyone left to go see what was burning over there?? or over here?? Is this the same Opera that when it did happen it was so full of dead space and stoned performers that just about everyone left in the middle of?? This "curruption" debate is old ground, debated into the ground by desert rats long before you even heard of Burningman. Check out the thread "Beating a Dead Horse" from the 1996 archive if you're interested.

If you can't afford a ticket, then don't go. Or save up your lunch money, either way.

Ah, yes, the 1996 archive. Surprising how many new users of ePlaya never visit that section of the board. Really an invaluable resource. Without it, I don't think I would have known where to pick up the air conditioner for my dome tent, or about the pressurized showers behind the Starbucks counter in Center Camp, or even how to get free tickets and transportation.

It's a must read.
