BM 2009 Dog Tag - comments & criticisms welcome

Postby Joshatdot » Sun Jul 12, 2009 11:18 pm

I've been thinking of what to do for Gifts, and thought Dog Tags would be cool.

Black with logo & text laser engraved. This is what I've got so far, click for bigger one.

If you order them pre-made, no problem. But if you buy blank tags and take them to an engraver, watch out. I bought a couple hundred a few years ago and did the engraving. NOT ALL ANODIZING IS THE SAME!!!!

Some of the tags took 60watts of laser at slow speed to mark. They were too HOT to handle after marking. Many could get by with only about 5 watts. (note that many laser pointers are only 0.020 watt) most laser engravers are only 10 watt max.

remember to have fun on both sides....

Good idea! Simple, yet stylish! :D

I've been trying to come up with a design of something to make and I'm stumped. I've been beading and doing wire jewelry and trying to figure out something with the Man and Evolution are making me pull my hair out! :D The Man holding a Darwin fish? The Man humping a Darwin fish? The man pulling himself out of the primordial ooze?

AARGH! :D

EspressoDude made some great dog tags for our camp - it remains one of my favorite gifts I ever got at the burn. I think it is a great idea and would love to receive one if we catch up on the playa. Go for it!

HOLY FUCKING SHIT BATMAN!

i think i just freaked out myself....

for the past 12 years, i've had this t-shirt, and all it said was "Dog Sauce" and a big number "0" on the back...

i just thought it was weird.

i wear it every year.

holy fucking shit, now i finally know why....wow....big wowee...this may have to go in the fuck thread.

i love that shirt....i may have talked about it in a past post but i will photograph and post for sake of veracity, which by now, some of you may have your doubts, but i have never lied to you.

this year, i burn the shirt.

one year, i burned my beloved boots, three times resoled, held together with duct tape and staples and sheer chutzpah, a pair of dickies engineer boots, size 12, Black. I had them for 20 years....it was the year i broke my foot, and because of many reasons i never had it set, it was rebroken yada yada....the boots never quite fit right again....i tried, believe me.

so i burned them at the temple....that was 2007.

i miss them, but i will never forget the look on the sheriff's face as i somberly walked over, alone, sat down. took off my boots, and left them there.

he just looked at me and instantly understood, that i loved, and still love, those most beautiful beat-up, worn down boots.

they were indeed a very special part of who i was, or thought i was.

i walked back to the tipis, with my cane, and barefoot....the only fucking time anyone will see or have seen my toes.

this year, i burn my hair-shirt.

shit, i should know better....lead them to the water and PUSH them in...

I kind of like macrame, partly because it's not overly difficult, and also because it's customizable and wearable. But I thought it even more appropriate since the spiral design looks sort of like a double helix.

Wow I didn't know it would be such a wanted item. They come with 24" nickle plated ball chain. I planned on getting 100 of em made, and if I can afford it 100 more (but next price break is at 500..that's abit too much for me ATM).

Last year I was at 4:15 & A, I stayed with friends at Camp Shift, back yard to Entheon Village.

Do you think the font is right (it's Cooper Black)? I liked it cause it's kinda round-bold looking, like the BM effigy logo. I am going to test others, and post em here.
