oh great Simon, I would say tis much better to be a 'cool' unhot Burner (hotness is so relative anyways) than to be a 'hot' uncool burner (which equates to being a jerk in many social circles...and anyways being a 'Burner' by definition should require you to have a certain amount of 'coolness') and hey we all like hot cool Burners

there is an off chance they could become, or acquire coolness, but most likely any cool burner who is not hot is going to stay that way, or get worse.

where is the line? we do need hotties to look at, but at what expense, and can we teach them to wear the ribbon?

I think the handkerchief in the lapel pocket is a nice accent, not sure if it is sexy or hypnotic. I guess a pocket watch on a long chain could be considered hypnotic. As with any accent, too much is clumsy and clownish.

Sorry it was a hard time in your lives!

I graduated from high school in '70 and was in college until '74 -- a particularly WONDERFUL time for writers and for music in genreral !!!!!!

In '74, I had an avocado refrigerator and HATED it, so I spray painted it. I don't think that color came about "automatically" in the early 70s, but I definitely share your disgust for it. LOL

Frankly, the early 70's music IMHO is a time to revere. It's when I got OUT of college and the disco scene started that I personally became disgusted. Oh, there were a couple of BeeGees things that were "okay," but laying that aside . . . LOL

I was into Hendrex, I was into Led Zep...

But when Disco hit... I did something I thought I'd never do... I started listening to Country music.... anything to get away from Disco on the radio dial.

Like in any kind of music there was some good Disco songs ( Uh huh I like it ), but the majority of the music gave me the creeps.

Yeah, most of disco sucked (altho I have a soft spot for I Will Survive and a few others). But it was easily avoidable, and there was great stuff to be found.

Oh, uh, sorry, off topic. Most hypnotic male accent? I think it's a matter of timbre rather than accent - nice rumbly soothing bass tones.

Some of those groups/folks were creating music in the 60's so I wasn't including them,

but swampdog.... you're right there was some great music in the 70's ... if you filtered out most of the Disco.

When did the Ramones first gain attention?
Saw them live a few times in the 80's... my son introduced them and mash pits to me. (never went into the pit... now talk about a CRAZY scene!)

Ramones were definitely 70s.

People talking trash about the seventies is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. Lots of things sucked about the seventies, but lots of things sucked in the eighties, nineties, and nought-ies too. The seventies is a popular dumping ground, but it also happens to be the decade of my teens and I have a lot of fond memories out there. It was really a time of creative explosion musically, not to mention a golden age of film.

And, yes, disco.
