Obstacle Course

I am seriously thinking of putting up an obstacle course as part of my theme camp:

Of course, without the damn monkey!

Demands are ease of transport, construction and destruction through conflagration. Also safety.

Ideas?

Wall that you can jump over (hurdle)
Wall that you can vault over
Wall that you need to climb over
Wall that you need a rope to climb over
Balance beam
Tunnel to climb through
"Barbed wire" low crawl
Long jump over "water hazard"
High climbing rope

Sounds too much like basic training in the army. Been there, done that. Not up for it again. Hell, at my age, I couldn't do it again if I wanted too! LOL

But I'm absolutely sure it will appeal to many others.

I set certain tasks before participants before they can be declared barbarians. (Still in the brainstorming stage!)

It starts with the obstacle course, then a stone that you must heave overhead. Then you must best me in boffer combat.

Then I will declare you a barbarian and my true brother. A toast of mead from a bull's horn and a little trinket to wear home with you - these shall be yours!

I like those rope ladders at the fair, suspended on an angle, by a center support on a swivel, balancing as you climb......and, over a "pit-O-doom" perhaps?..

I was happily thinking about mud wrestling and a bacon obstacle course and then you had to mention something about falling into evaporation ponds...

Great idea. You could make it over your evap pond, and as people fall on it, the goop soaks into their "playa finery", which helps with the functioning of the pond. Win-Win-Lose.

I think an obstacle course would be really cool, although I'm a newbie around here so I'm probably not considering all the relevant complications. I will say that you can make some decent hurdles and crawl-under areas out of simple PVC, and if you don't actually glue it together then it generally doesn't break when people fall on it. Stakes and P-cord are great for crawling under, of course, even if less viscerally exciting than razor wire.
